Aluminium & Extrusion

ALUMINIUM

Aluminium is an extraordinarily versatile material. The range of forms it can take (castings, extrusions and tubes, sheet & plate, foil, powder, forgings etc) and variety of surface finishes available (coatings, anodizing, polishing etc) means it lends itself to a wide range of products, many of which we use every day of our lives.

Advantages of Aluminium

Strength : Pure aluminium is soft enough to carve but mixed with small amounts of other metal to form alloys, it can provide the strength of steel, with only one-third of the weight. Without aluminium there would be no commercial air travel.

Durability : Aluminium sprayed on a polymer forms a thin insulating sheet that can keep a newborn baby warm or save the life of someone on an exposed mountaintop.

Flexibility : Its combination of properties ensure aluminium and its alloys can be easily shaped by any of the main industrial metalworking processes - rolling, extrusion, forging and casting.

Impermeability : Aluminium has excellent barrier function which makes it ideal for food and drink packaging and containers. It keeps out air, light and microorganisms while preserving the contents inside.

Lightweight : Aluminium used in transport reducing the weight of the vehicles, hence in providing fuel efficiency, reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Corrosion-resistant : The metal's natural coating of aluminium oxide provides a highly effective barrier to the ravages of air, temperature, moisture and chemical attack, making aluminium a useful construction material.

Recyclable : Once made, aluminium can be recycled again and again, using only a very small fraction of the energy required to make "new" metal. Recycling saves about 95% of the energy required for primary production.

Other : Aluminium is a superb conductor of electricity which has seen it replace copper in many electrical applications. It is also non-magnetic and non-combustible, properties invaluable in advanced industries such as electronics or in offshore structures.

Aluminium alloys and tempers

White Aluminum Extrusion LLC produces most of customer requirements in its facilities using alloys 6061, 6063 and 6082 with T4, T5 and T6 tempers.

6063 : The most popular extrusion alloy, takes a good surface finish, is corrosion resistant and can be heat treated for strength.

6061 : Most versatile alloy of heat treatable group is an improved magnesium silicide alloy with the ability to develop strengths somewhat higher than 6063 alloy – Good corrosion resistance – used in transportation and structural applications.

6082 : Similarly this alloy has good tensile strength having good extrudability, widely chosen for automobile profiles structures with complex shapes, structural engineering, pylons, platforms, pipelines, masts for sailing boats, etc.

    • T4 : Solution heat treated and naturally aged to substantially stable condition

    • T5 : Cooled from an elevated temperature and then artificially age hardened

    • T6 : Solution heat treated and artificially age hardened

EXTRUSION

White Aluminum Extrusion profiles can be found in a wide range of products and applications such as building and construction, furniture parts and industrial parts, etc.
We are capable of producing complex extrusion depending upon the customer requirements. We have 1560 and 2000 tons extrusion presses in our state-of-the art facility to deliver shorter lead-times and consistent quality profiles. Our extrusion presses can produce everything from the most common, large extruded profiles to some of the smallest and thinnest-walled extruded profiles in the industry. We are capable of extruding some of the tightest tolerances.

At White Aluminum Extrusion, we understand the mechanics of working with aluminum. For each part we manufacture, we consider wall thickness, profile circumscribing circle size, location of dimension on the profile and the type of profile. We are also able to match the tolerance specifications with the right extrusion press size.
While the aluminum industry provides standard dimensional tolerance guidelines for extruded aluminum profiles — flatness and twist, contours, straightness — the experience our team brings to each project allows us to compensate for those unique situations where standard tolerances will not be successful in the end-use part application. We understand that each extruded profile has critical features that are important to its performance. Our expertise helps us determine when tolerances must be tightened in order to achieve the fit, form and functional requirements of the end applications.
